the Miller’s Run
The Miller’s Run is the iconic downwind paddle in Cape Town, known to be one of the best and most consistent in the world. The route is 12KM on the east side of the Cape Peninsula, from Miller’s Pt, northward to Fish Hoek, a small suburb of Cape Town. Don was able to take his first crack at it on Monday. The conditions were quite small, so it was good for scoping it out and getting a feel for the route and conditions. Unfortunately Don is dealing with cough and phlegm issue, a little under the weather, and certainly not in the best shape having come from Seattle’s winter, so it was a bit of a grind. But no complaints about paddling in warm ocean waters! There will be a few more opportunities to paddle the Miller’s Run, and perhaps a few other routes. The wind is supposed to be cranking by the weekend, so it could be fantastic.
It was great to come into Fish Hoek beach and see about 30 juniors out in the surf zone practicing on surfskis and paddleboards.
Today we’ll probably venture out the Cape again in search of penguins, baboons, and secluded beaches.

so sorry you are under the weather. but I know that does not stop you. enjoy while you can, especially the warm waters. it will spoil you.
The wind will pick up and there’s nothing better for phlegm than a good dosing of salt water. What boat did you paddle. Any sharks? Any baboons?
Allwave CX. No sharks, despite the fisherman discarding fish guts at the put in! Baboons on the road to Cape Pt yesterday.
Can’t wait for downwind report when winds cranked up.
Simon don’t scare Don about the sharks
Don , hope you get better soon.
Freaking Miller’s Run!!! Tear it up for all of us too, Don!!!
Don and Stina,
So cool to be paddling on Miller’s Run even though conditions are small for now. Phlegm remedy…two beers should clear it right up before a big downwinder!
